Off to Gozo here we go!
With the green rolling hills of Gozo now in full colour after one of the wettest Octobers in many years, it's about time we have a visit to our sister island! A paradise for hikes at this time of the year and our mild winter will hopefully give us days with sunshine but no rain (fingers - hands and feet- crossed The Troop will thus invade the Gozo Ferry Decks and claim the ship for themselves to make way for the Gozo long weekend of the 11/12/13th December 2010. Friday 10/12/2010 No Meeting, those for whom is coming to the Camp Bring Rack sack, sleeping equipment and permission form at HQ at 7.00pm ============ Aftermath of the weekend Whilst the weather proved to be challenging on our second day on the green island of gozo, the troop still managed to enjoy this weekend to the full. Most of the hiking happened on the Saturday, starting as soon as they disembarked the ferry, the weather being very co-operative and the hiking carried out in sunshine whilst most of our fellow scouts in Europe were probably battling with snow and bitter cold. Saturday evening the troop chilled out with making some sweets but some had a go to a game of basketball. Sunday, after a good breakfast, another hike was started towards Ir-Ramla l-Hamra but today they ha to be cautious due to heavy rains looming on the horizon. Lunch was cooked on site by the GSL and Charles and then off again they to Xaghra as the rain started to make its presence felt. A brief stopover whilst rain was coming down was enjoyed by all at an ancient farmhouse with lots of history where the troop playing some games and the leaders relaxed. Back to the Xaghra Scouts HQ, some relaxed but the majority jumped in in a massive quasi - Basketball game with leaders and troop taking opposing sides and after many throws, running, screaming and good fun, it was time for dinner. Following the dinner, the troop kept up the entertainment with a few stunts based on Gozitan legends being revisited in a modern way :) Monday morning... time to pack up and after an early start and breakfast, cleaning up the sleeping area at Xaghra Scouts HQ and making sure no one left anything behind, off for another hike to the ferries and back to Malta. Special thanks to Xaghra Scouts and the Xaghra Parish for making use of the Circolo building for the indoors sleeping area. A few photos beneath. Make sure you look up in our group's Facebook page for some more!

). And if it's not perfect weather, at least it won't be a chilling 0 degrees like in mainland Europe!
